ANTONIO CHAPTER -
Mentor Program
The SEAoT Mentor Program is designed to meet the
following objectives:
- Promote a one-on-one dialogue between students
and practicing engineers.
- Provide a unique opportunity for structural engineers
to make a contribution to their profession by supplementing the
traditional education of a student with the wisdom that comes
from experience in practice.
- Encourage students to attend the monthly meetings
in San Antonio and then continue their involvement in SEAoT after
graduation.
ACTIVITIES
Some activities may include:
- Dining together at the monthly SEAoT meetings.
- Visit of the mentor’s office by the student.
- Participate in mutually beneficial professional
activities of functions such as Engineers’ Week.
- Establish e-mail or other convenient means of
communication.
- Attending Annual State Conference.
RECOGNITION
Mentors will be recognized upon volunteering and at
a special SEAoT dinner meeting at year-end.
COMMITMENT
The mentor may make a voluntary contribution to help
defray the cost of and encourage student attendance at the monthly
dinner meetings and to allow a student representative to attend
the SEAoT Annual Conference. A contribution of $200 is suggested.
The Mentor program is intended to provide a forum
that will encourage interaction among students and professionals.
Participation does not indicate a commitment on the part of the
mentor or the student for future employment.
Participation in the SEAoT Mentor Program implies
a responsibility of both the student and mentor to work toward fulfilling
the objectives of this program so both parties may benefit in a
positive manner.
